20 years ago today, I moved to Massachusetts from New York (the state, not the city). It was snowing.

Back then, I could fit almost everything I owned into my car. Some days, I wish that were still true; that I could just pack everything I needed into the trunk and take off for new adventures in new places. But roots have dug deeply into the New England soil, and most of my family (both blood and chosen) live here.

Still, a winter home someplace warm wouldn't be unwelcome. *g*

I understand about the warm winter place! I really miss the mild winters in Los Angeles.

On the other hand, I've slept with the window open the last few nights and it's November! So I'm not complaining ... yet. :)

Happy anniversary. I'm glad you came to Massachusetts!

You're right, I can't complain about the recent weather. Open windows in November are indeed welcome.

Thanks, I'm glad I came here, too. :)

That makes me think about the fact that I'm still here, too. We came because R. decided to go to graduate school at UMass (out of several widely divergent places he could have chosen), and I had no predictions for what would happen after that, but now it's almost 25 years later. I can't think of too many reasons to go back to the Midwest, even with blood relatives there, although if I had no ties left here, I might go find a spot out there in an artists' colony I've heard about.

I'm certainly glad you're here, too -- it was an interesting turn of fate that we met!

It certainly was! We've lasted longer than a lot of marriages. *g*

Well... anytime you'd like to come to Florida and need a place to crash for a few days- lemme know!

It was a pleasant 80 degrees today.

Someday I will make it back to Florida. Fritz keeps bugging me to come visit. How far are you from Clearwater?

Cool. If/when I make it down there, we'll have to get together. :)

I can't tell you how glad I am that you did move, my dear. If you hadn't been rooming with Holly, I'd have never met you, and although it's been years since we've seen one another, you're still on my list of Favorite People.

*hugs*

I go up to Boston every year for Arisia SF Con (i merchant there) and go up to New hampshire every year for an SCA event called Market day at Birka (still merchanting).

so every _winter_ i go to Boston, come home, turn around the next week or so and drive to NH... thats *north* of me...so at least you are not alone in this "why am i not in Florida right now" mind set. New England is a lovely place. One of these days i will have to get up there when it isnt 40 below and covered in ice....

By the by, if i havent already met you, and am just not placing the LJ handle.. Please feel free to stop by and introduce yourself when i get up north this year. i am always pleased to meet folks in person. (even though *none* of you look like i expect.. ever!)

I don't believe we've met. I'm not in Boston anymore, and I'm not likely to be at Arisia. Do you go to festivals? I can usually be found at Sirius Rising in NY in July.

i went to >shudder< Starwood... ONCE.
I know sirius rising is supposed to be much better, and many of my friends go. but that one time at Starwood left such a bad taste in my mouth that it has been hard to overcome.

I do conventions and smaller festivals all over the place. Plus i do Pennsic, which is about two hours south of Sirius Rising, and this coming year will start in July, instead of August. probably right after Sirius Rising.

Sirius Rising is nothing like Starwood. The energy is much more mellow, and the festival is about community & making things. Starwood is about taking drugs and banging on things (you can take that any way you like ;) ).

I've never been to Sirius Rising, but I remember Starwood.

"Hi, Honeys, We're Home."

I'd say "makes mental note to chase you around a bonfire sometime," but we both know that I don't need to make any mental notes for that!

It's still that, but now we have a banner that also says "Home honeys, we're hi" on the reverse. *g*

I think if you're going to chase me around a bonfire, it'd better be soon... before too much longer, it might be an awfully slow chase! ;)
