The problem with going to bed at the usual time last night is that I am up at the usual time this morning. Once I wake up, if it is close enough to my usual rising time, I can't get back to sleep. Fortunately, it's Saturday, so there may be nappage later.

To while away the time while I wait for it to get light enough to go out walking, I've been surfing around Flickr, looking at great photos. I love seeing what inspires passion in people, what they love taking pictures of. I was looking at photos of India, Boston, gravestones, flowers, autumn leaves... the patterns of peoples' lives and loves. You can tell a lot about people from looking at their Flickr streams, and the groups they belong to.

What evokes passion in you? What do you collect, what inspires you, what fills you with awe?

Nature always evokes passion in me, fills me with awe...the beauty of all forms of nature, from the clouds to the mountains to the trees, to the tiniest of creatures that walks or crawls on the Earth.

Sometimes, I even find a little of that same beauty in humanity, though not quite so frequently. But, I watch for it, and when I see it, kindness, compassion, beauty of spirit, that's one of the greatest blessings and passion of all.

Nature, and ruins. Nature reclaiming something long abandoned. Abandoned places. Unexpected beauty, like a flower in a vacant lot in the city. Human expressions and emotions. Patterns, both natural and man-made.
