The sun is out today, but it's very cold, so the ice on the trees sparkles and sounds like beads when the wind comes up. It's very pretty, and very dangerous. I saw several large limbs down this morning on my way to work, along with countless small branches. I watched a bunch of starlings (and a couple of robins) eating the fruit of the ornamental pear tree next door. Poor birdies, most everything is frozen over today!
I took an ad from the anchorman for the local NBC affiliate today. He's selling his Oriental carpets. He got a bit verbose in his ad, which of course made the price go up quite a bit; he eventually whittled it down to a more managable size. He has a good sense of humor, and it was strange hearing his voice on the phone as I hear it on the telly all the time.
I used to meet a lot of the Boston news folk when I worked at Bloomingdale's. Most of them were nice, but one or two were snooty; one in particular, who has a sweet on-air personality and a reputation for being very nice, is actually quite the opposite. That's show business, I guess. *shrugs*
We got poinsettias in the office today, and they do cheer the place up. Such gorgeous reds! I don't especially like the other colors; red is what we always had growing up, and they remind me of my dad. Someone was asking people at the party the other day which food means Thanksgiving to folks (for me it was the fancy peas we only had on that day); I can't imagine any other color poinsettia meaning Christmas. They may be pretty, but they're not the real thing. Silly, really, for a Pagan who celebrates Yule instead of Christmas, but it's a sentimental thing.

Nature isn't good enough...
