Snow is turning to rain... earlier, it was coming down quite hard, but not sticking. Hopefully the roads will just be wet for the commute home.
I've had lots of new customers lately, and a few who've come back after lapsing, but the ones I've been calling have been such a hard sell! Very frustrating. Just like everything else in my life lately... sheesh! I need a break. C'mon universe, it's *my* turn! Bring me something good for a change, please?
I watched The Devil Wears Prada last night. I didn't find it nearly as charming as I'd heard it was, which is what usually happens when I see a movie after everyone else has. It wasn't bad, and the performances were terrific (especially Ms. Streep), but I found myself cringing at the cliches. Fresh-faced girl gets dream job ('though not *her* dream job, which was a twist); thinks she's a failure and a sellout; girds her loins and dives in, thereby selling out and alienating her friends; is dazzled by (supposedly) handsome, successful man; realizes that she's sold out her dreams and quits; finds her real dream job after all. *yawn* And the successful dude who seduces her? Weird looking. Kind of creepy, actually. A bit on the stalkerish side.
I have to admit that I did identify with the main character a little, being a bit of a fish out of water back in my Bloomingdales days, but not quite as bad as she was. I did, at least, know who Dolce & Gabbana are. *g*
