Oy, I'm so glad it's Friday afternoon. This morning and yesterday were tough. Busy, which is good, but I was surrounded by well-meaning helpers who needed a lot of help, artists who apparently couldn't follow simple instructions (well, ok, one artist in particular), and difficult customers whose rep is on Nantucket at the moment. I swear, the next customer who keeps talking over me is getting disconnected! There were a couple who, if I could reach through the phone lines, would have gotten a good whack upside the head.

Since they only scheduled coverage until 2:00, and I didn't get to go to lunch until 1:15, I got a short lunch break today. Just long enough to go to Rite Aid to get my hair color (and a big bar of extra dark chocolate), and read a couple of chapters of Stephanie Plum while sipping an Izze Sparkling Pomegranate. I feel much better now. *g*

I wanted to get a fabulous new nail color, because I am bored with all the ones I own, and nothing was catching my eye. I am bored with *all* nail colors, apparently. I will have to make do with what I have, I guess. Maybe I'll paint my toenails blue again. That will cheer me up. Oh, there were some pretty ones, but nothing that I'd actually wear on my fingernails. Pale blue, dark purple, frosty pink. Colors that clash with everything I own.

Anyhoo. I'm feeling extra overworked and underappreciated today. Not one person here has remembered that tomorrow is my birthday. For you non-Leos, that is a mortal sin to we lionesses! *growl* I'm looking forward to a glass of wine and the season finale of Doctor Who this evening, and Lammas with the coven tomorrow night. Ooh, and the July 4th rained-out fireworks have been rescheduled for this Sunday, so they're my birthday fireworks now. *g*

and no, i didn't know it was your birthday actually, partly because i don't tend to look at friend's profiles on a regular basis, nor do i ever go to the LJ homescreen where it might tell me (my 'favourites' link goes straight to my friends' page!).

Do you wear different colours of nail varnish on your fingernails to that on your toenails then?

Thanks! I actually meant that nobody *here at work* remembered that it's my birthday tomorrow. Everyone in the building has a phone list of all employees, and the birthdays are right there. Other people get parties. I get forgotten. :(

Of *course* I wear different colors on my fingers & toes... why wear one color when I can wear two? *g*

ah, see, i purposely never told the folks at work when my birthday was. i'm not one of those people who revels in the whole concept - not because i don't want to be reminded i'm getting old - it's more because i don't really see it as anything special (and if i harp on about it it makes me sound like i'm a bit too full of myself!).

having said which, my boss is now aware when my birthday is (i'm not sure how!), so she's made a note of it in her outlook. meh.

the tradition at birthdays is for cakes to be brought in and much sweet things to be consumed. is good :)

heh i presume that all your fingernails are the *same* colour as each other (rather than your thumb being purple, your index finger being lilac ...) ... do you get to show your toenail colourings off that often?

Yes, my fingernails are all the same color. I do wear open-toed shoes or sandals pretty much all summer, so yes, my toenails get shown off quite a bit. Hence the blue and green. *g*

I have a basket full of nail polish, plus all the stuff you gave me. The ones I love get used up or dried out, and the new stuff at the store is boring. It's been a long time since a nail color excited me. I'm a tough customer! *g*
