why is today so weird?

I had a customer yell at me this morning over .9". Point. Nine. Inches. Said we were practicing deceptive advertising because our one-coumn ads are 1.929" across while the columns are 2". Insisted on this even after my boss explained to him that they have to leave a little room so that the ads don't run into each other. Said he was going to call his credit card company and dispute the charges because he wasn't getting what he paid for. This is a doctor who is advertising for fibromyalgia patients. Oy! He also gave our credit manager a hard time, as I recall. He said he will run this ad but never again, and I said thank god, I mean that's your prerogative. (why does slash not work today? grr!)

I needed a drink after that one! Had to settle for soda.

Coming back from lunch, there was an SUV (or maybe minivan) parked out back with license plates that said I*MBALM and a plate holder that said, "My other car is a hearse." I don't even know what to say about that. o_O

It's frakking freezing in here because somehow the heat got messed up and is blowing cold air instead of warm. It was 60 degrees when I got here this morning, and not a whole lot warmer than that now. I should've worn socks.

I'm really glad this is a three-day weekend ahead. I'll need that extra day to recover!

see, what is really geeky is that he actually measured the width of the column of text to a significantly more precise length than the average ruler (which would be 'a couple of sixteenths ...').

And in any case :
a) the eye would not actually be able to tell the difference in width, and
b) the eye is used to seeing a gap between the text and the edge of the column so wouldn't notice there *was* a difference.

meh.

socks are evil and come from hell. but it's getting very cold here too ...

BTW : three-day weekend? what's the holiday?

It's Columbus Day (or, the day the Europeans invaded). It's a weird day to have off, but I'll take it!

ahh hmmm. that makes sense, kinda, as thinking about it, it was about exactly two years ago when i ended up watching a Columbus Day parade in Chicago.

Didn't know it was a holiday day though!
