Well, I made the decision to stay home tonight, and called Lakshmi to let her know. She wasn't surprised; they've had about as much snow as we have, and the roads aren't in great shape. I'm bummed that I'll be missing a lovely gathering with my friends, but relieved I don't have to go out in this weather. The mailman delivered the first disc of The Wire from Netflix, which many people have recommended to me, so I have something interesting to watch. I have some boneless pork chops that I must think of something interesting to do with, and some wine and chocolate to celebrate with if I feel so inspired. I think that the calendar is somewhat random, and it seems strange to me to be celebrating a new year at this time in the wheel, but whatever. Everyone else is celebrating. If you do, have a safe and happy one!

Ganymede has a sort of new year rite built into its Yule ritual. I actually think it makes more sense to welcome the new year as we welcome the sun's return; the Samhain "Celtic new year" never made sense to me for some reason!

Hope you enjoy your night at home!

Yes, I've always thought that the new year should start at solstice, or perhaps spring equinox.

I'm enjoying being warm. :)
