...and because I just don't have anything else to say right now, I'm reposting the "random things" meme I just did on Facebook. Sorry to those of you who overlap. ;)

***

I've been tagged enough times that I suppose I should do this "random things" meme. Because I am contrary, I'm not going to number them or tag anyone. Do it if you feel like it.

* I like to cook, but I rarely do. It's just not as much fun to cook for one.

* I always have music playing in my head, like a running soundtrack.

* I don't consider myself a geek, but I do have some geeky tendencies. I love Star Trek and BSG and Doctor Who, but I'm not a gamer or computer nerd.

* I have a terrible memory. I come by it honestly: my mother is the same.

* I love kids, but I've never wanted any of my own. I like being an auntie.

* I have a bazillion beads, and I really should do something with them.

* I love walking in the woods more than just about anything.

* I don't have a very highly developed sense of smell. Most things smell "good" or "not good" but I can't identify most smells.

* I'm very tactile; I love the texture of clothes as much as color or style.

* I'm a wuss when it comes to violent, graphic movies. I refuse to watch "Pulp Fiction" and most horror. Scary is OK, just not bloody or brutal.

* I think my perfect job would be "blogger." No, seriously.

* I really could not care less about the Superbowl. Especially the commercials.

* I'm stopping now to make brownies.
(and the brownies are now in the oven)

Mmm, brownies.

As for Pulp Fiction: not nearly so violent as you might think. I'm seriously troubled by violent movies, and I can watch that one. The ending of Beverly Hills Cop 2 was much more difficult for me to watch. Or any of the Lethal Weapon movies. I know that's supposed to be cartoon violence, but IMX cartoon violence is *worse*. Pulp Fiction gives violence its full moral weight.

I think you're fine not seeing Pulp Fiction. I saw it because I was curious about Tarentino's point of view about things in general after seeing a short film he did (which also had a very gruesome moment), and hearing a variety of comments about Pulp Fiction. But yes, PF is brutal and bloody, even though you are shown why it is that way. (I like your other friend's comment about "full moral weight.") I won't say I'm really glad I saw the film, but at least I came away with the better understanding of Tarentino, and a taste for Samuel L. Jackson! I actually came to appreciate Uma Thurman a little less after that, just for her choice of characters, and didn't bother to see the Kill Bill series even with all the hype.

I'm a grandauntie now, with another coming in July. After my cancer 2 years ago, I no longer have to worry about getting pregnant.

Yep. She was around 10 or 11 then, now she's 28. Her first baby, Vala, was born 12/31/07. I can't remember what year she got married. Somewhere between 2000 & 2004.

Wow! I think I remember you saying several years ago that D. was getting married. And now her own kids... that's cool :-)
