The other day on the Flickr blog, they highlighted a new group called Your Best Shot 2009, which got me thinking: what *was* my best shot this year? I uploaded 4,864 photos (so far) this year. How can I choose just one as the best? Most of them are, admittedly, ordinary, but there are a few that I really like. I thought about it and thought about it, waffling between several shots, and came up with this one as possibly the best:

party

I like it rather a lot. It's been my desktop picture at home for several months, and I haven't tired of it. I love the colors, the angle, the textures, the hint of the metal fence behind the flowers.

Is it my best? I don't know. It's what comes to mind.

Here are a few other favorites from the past year:

There were a couple that I thought I had taken this year, but it turned out that I hadn't. Oh, well.

In other news, what the heck is up with the weather? Yesterday, I was scraping thick frost off my car windows. This morning, it was 60 degrees when I got up. Before sunrise. WTF? About ten seconds after I got into my car, it started to rain. About halfway to work, the sun came out, and I saw a gorgeous rainbow. When I got to work, it was sprinkling, so I decided to just go for it. Halfway to the door, the heavens opened up and I got drenched. That was fun. NOT. I had the windows open for most of the day, too. Kind of nice, but really strange for December. Maybe there's something to that global warming stuff, after all. O_o

I would vote for the orchid closup, but I think I've seen others of yours that I like more--for instance, the impressionist ones from your walk you posted the other day.

But the question was not, "What does Singingnettle think was your best shot?" but, "What do you think was your best shot?" :->

The weather is out of its mind.

my *favourite* is the one with the fountain, but I think the pictures of flowers are probably the better ones.

I do the like the last pic ("Inside"), but i'm certainly not someone who can judge what makes a good picture and what doesn't.

All very nice. I like the balance in the fountain photo.

I agree with your choice, and I also like the other botanicals A Lot.

Re: weather, it sure has been weird here. However, out in Wisconsin it was 32° and snowing yesterday, so apparently *they're* not thinking about global warming right now...
