I went out for a walk this morning, intending to just go to Grandmothers' Garden and over Chestnut Street to find the crocuses I saw there last year. It was so nice, I wandered downtown and ended up at Amelia Park, which is finally open.




















After eating lunch and uploading the pix, I had intended to go to Trader Joe's, since the forecast was for clouds and possible rain. The sky, however, remained mostly sunny, and I just couldn't waste a beautiful afternoon shopping. So I headed out again, back to the park.










Unfortunately, one of the hawthorn trees came down in the last storm. My first reaction was, "Oh, no!" and my second was to see if I could find a branch that would make a good wand; it's good for protection and Faery magick. I broke off a four-foot piece and carried it home, getting strange looks I'm sure. I also took a large splinter from the trunk; I believe hawthorn is one of the nine sacred woods (is this right, justjanus?). If anyone wants hawthorn wood or wand material: I'd be glad to take you there or get some for you. Let me know. There are so many trees down, I'm sure it'll be a while before they chop it up and take it away.
