The peace lily in my office has three (count 'em) flowers right now. It seems to be very happy in there. It's about the only one, too; I heard grumbling from at least a half dozen people just today. I'm trying not to grumble. Too much.

The other night I was channel surfing, and came across a fun little show called American Pickers on the History Channel. These two guys were driving across Georgia (or Alabama, or some other Southern state) looking for junkyards and barns full of stuff in search of treasures to buy and sell. Lots of characters with the tendency to horde, and dollar signs in their eyes. It was amusing, and I watched it for twenty minutes or so.

Yesterday morning, I had a message on voicemail from the producers of this very show, looking to place an ad in our paper! They're coming to New England in search of barns full of stuff. When I called the woman back, I told her that I had seen the show the night before, and she was tickled.

If you know anyone with a barn full of stuff, let me know and I'll send you the email address to contact them.

I can't watch the show without getting furious so I stopped. My mother was swindled by a couple of pickers—though I'm sure these guys are much nicer. Maybe.

Oh, dear. From what I saw, these guys seem to be willing to offer a decent price, but they do make money on the sale. Sorry your mom was ripped off!

I don't mind them making money. They're in business. But the pickers who robbed my mom out-and-out lied to her. That I mind. I can't help wondering what they would say to these little old folks if the cameras were off.
