Tinkerbelle, lost, originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle.

It was still (relatively) warm today, if cloudy, so I wandered around for a while. My foot seems to have developed a dislike for my boots, and I had a bit of a headache (probably due to falling pressure), so I didn't go as far as the past couple of days, but it was nice to be outside.

I started a set on Flickr of lost and abandoned items I've found in my wanderings, inspired by my friend Wren, who likes to take pictures of similar things. Today it was this Tinkerbelle thingy; I'm not sure what it is, because it's too small to be a hat, but it's not a mitten. Is it the opposite of fingerless mittens?

Way too small. It's the size of a mitten.

I think it's the mitten part of a glove-mitten. I'm not sure what the proper name is, but I bought a pair while I was away in London and they're really useful for wearing in cold weather when you want to take photos. (Though someone said that they've probably become popular due to everyone needing to use mobile phones.)

Aha! Looking on the Accessorize web site reveals they're called "capped gloves". They're basically fingerless gloves with a little finger-cosy that folds over to turn the gloves into mittens. I suspect that what you've found is a detached fold-over bit.

Thank you! I suspected it was something like that. :)

I was on a job near an airport once and I found a soft toy in the form of a very happy alsation puppy. If it hadn't been so grotty, I'd have brought it home, because I felt sorry for it.

I just took it to the side of the excavations and left it there with a heavy heart, knowing that sooner or later, the diggers would murder it.
