We received the sad news yesterday that Lou T. passed away over the weekend. Lou worked here at The Reminder for 27 years, well into his eighties. He retired just a couple of years ago, to care for his wife. He and Lou G. (also in his eighties) worked on the dock in circulation forever, it seemed. The Lous.
Everybody loved Lou. He was a cheerful, sweet guy, barely five feet tall. He drove a Grand Marquis, which was taller than he was.
He's the one who brought in veggies from his garden, early in the morning before anyone got here. I would come in and find a baggie of tomatoes and peppers on my desk, and know that Lou had visited.
He told me that his mother's name was Elizabeth, too, and he brought in a picture of her to show me.
He will be greatly missed. Tell your mother I said hello, Lou. She raised a good son.
