I was just watching a wasp devour a dead grasshopper (I know -yuck- but it's the circle of life), and it reminded me of the time I went on a picnic with a few friends to a local state park; I had gotten one of those whole roasted chickens at the supermarket, and while we were eating, a wasp landed on the carcass, started peeling off slivers of meat, and flying off with them. It came back several times (or perhaps there were several wasps, hearing about free food on the wasp grapevine), and we were horrified that they were carnivores. Well, duh. They eat bugs, why not chicken? Just another strange quirk of nature, I suppose. Insects are such strange, alien creatures sometimes.
The wasp just now had its head inside the grasshopper, trying to get a foothold while eating. The result was that the grasshopper was moving backward and upside down with the wasp underneath it, and the effect was somewhat comical. Insect comedians, as it were.
Yes, I am easily amused. *g*
