don't tell me I don't "get it"

I'm watching a story on CBS Sunday Morning about Christo's "Gates" in NYC. It's also about his other works. And, while it's interesting (and beautiful in its way), really the first thing that comes to my mind is "What a waste." I mean, it's only up for a few days, and then they'll take it down. What happens to all that steel & fabric? What about all the nylon they used in California and Germany? That's not biodegradable, you know. If you're going to make something temporary, why not make it out of something that goes back to the Earth? I guess it's just one of my pet peeves, waste. Like at work: they use so much paper! Yes, we're a newspaper, but we really do use way too much paper. Beth, the head of the graphics department, encourages reuse, and I keep a stack of paper for her to reuse in the copiers. And we have recycle boxes all over the place. And I still see paper in the trash. Argh! I'm always saying "recycle!" to people when I see them aiming for the trash bin.
