lizziebelleI just had the best Italian food I've ever had in my life. I'm positively stuffed. One of our advertisers, Buon Appetito, offered to have us over for appetizers this evening, and I'm one of the lucky ones who went. OMG, everything was fabulous! When I got there, the owner, Mino, was giving Dan (one of the co-publishers) and his wife a tour of the garden, so I tagged along. He grows most of the herbs and some of the veggies right there. Mmmm, fresh basil!
The decor was slightly kitschy, but fun. Mino had set up a long table for us, and folks drifted in. He started us off with bruschetta, with tons of fresh tomatoes and garlic. Yum! Oh, and the bread & breadsticks are made fresh on the premises. Next came the best mussels I've ever had; some in a delightful white sauce with lots of butter & garlic, and some in a fresh marinara sauce. Heaven. Next came some fried shrimp. Then, this awesome dish of artichoke hearts with a butter, lemon & garlic sauce and cheese. Then stuffed eggplant parm that was unbelievably good. Dan was buying the drinks, so I had a couple of cosmos. At this point, we thought we were done so we sat back and started to chat. And then came the bowls of pasta! Most of us had to take that home in a doggy bag, because we were really stuffed. Dan bought us all a limoncello for afters. Mino tried to get us to order dessert, but we had to decline. And there were some wonderful looking desserts! Oy. Oh! I forgot about the fresh mozzarella with basil, tomatoes & olive oil. That came somewhere in the middle. Did I say oy? I had to take a walk when I got home. You could have rolled me.
