Perfect May day today: breezy, sunny, and warm, with flowers everywhere, like this pink dogwood.

I walked down to the river at the far end of town, and found the trail along the river.

That was a really, really long walk. It was the perfect day for it, though.

I took advantage of the sunshine after work and walked down to Grandmothers' Garden to see what was in bloom.

Lots of things! )

The other day I felt a cold coming on, complete with post-nasal drip. I slept poorly that night, and felt crummy all day yesterday. I went to bed at 9:00 last night and slept almost through the night, getting up once to go to the bathroom and then falling back asleep, miraculously. Feeling much better today, thank goodness. With all the stress of the past few weeks, and the thousands of germs I'm sure I was exposed to last weekend, it's no wonder I came down with something. I'm really glad I have no plans for the weekend, because I don't think I'd have the energy for anything.

I managed to make it out this morning while the sun was still out, after the fog burned off. It was 68 degrees! Thirty degrees warmer than the same time yesterday.

I even managed to get my laundry done before I went out. I guess there are some advantages to being unable to sleep late.

I walked down to Amelia Park, where not much is blooming yet. Just a couple of tulips, and the hyacinth that was there last week; the magnolia and cherry is just starting to open. This is the same cherry that bloomed last fall. I think they're all confused still from last year.

I found a fiver on the ground in the parking lot. Hey, I can use it to score some half-price chocolate tomorrow! Maybe they'll have a dark chocolate bunny left.

Happy Easter to those of you who celebrate. I'm celebrating the Earth coming back to life. :)

After a wild night of rain and wind, it turned out to be a pretty decent day, if a bit windy. Lots more things poking out of the ground and blooming.

Such a lovely spring evening it was. Perfect for a long walk down to the park, where the setting sun gilded flowers and the peepers sang.

It was another gorgeous day today, but of course I was back at work. We couldn't even open the windows, because the painter closed them on wet paint last week. Grr.

At least there is daylight after work now, so I went for a walk through the cemetery next door. These pansies were in a pot, but there were things blooming in the ground and on the trees, too.

It was a gorgeous, springlike day today. I went for two long walks, taking in the sights and smells of spring. A few more days like this, and there will be flowers everywhere!

spring! )

I actually slept until 8 this morning, and it would have been even later if my mom hadn't called me. Stress is exhausting. A few hours in nature on a lovely day was just the tonic I needed. I'm turning the ringer off on my phone before I go to bed. ;)

blue flowers, originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle.

It was a little warmer and less windy today, so I took a long walk. It felt good to be outside and moving. These little blue flowers were enjoying the sunshine, too.

I tackled the shelves in the kitchen, taking everything off them and lugging them out to the dumpster. I replaced them with the plastic shelves that used to be in the living room. Still finding piles of stuff I can get rid of; the problem is what to do with it? I'd rather not throw it all in the dumpster, you know? I had a thought about doing a sort of Freecycle at work, but I don't know how it would go over. I work with a lot of nudges. I suppose I could box it all up and donate to Savers again, if all else fails.

On my walk today, I came across two cats and two lions on porches.

here, kitty kitty )

I also saw heather blooming. Hardy plant, that heather.

Still no crocus or daffodil blooms, and not all the snow is gone yet. It's supposed to be relatively warm this week, with rain tomorrow, so perhaps by next week we'll have flowers.

The trees are starting to bud, too. :)

Of course the coldest day was a Monday. Thank goodness my car started this morning. Yay for Die-Hard batteries!

More snow expected for the morning, but not much. Just enough to be annoying, I'm sure. Everybody's panicking over a possible storm later in the week, which may miss us altogether (oh, please, please miss us).

At least I had a couple of decent sales today.

Enjoy the flowers. :)

We had some wicked storms pass through last night, bringing in nicer air as they brought down trees (and branches, and limbs). I found this Rosa Multiflora at the park today, looking all perky.

After supper, I went over to Grandmothers' Garden (which is not my Grandmother's garden ;) and found lots of pretties )

One more day, and then it's a three-day weekend. Woot.
