Ended what was probably the most bizarre week ever over at L's yesterday evening, with friends, food, and cocktails on a warm spring night, celebrating the end of the saga in Boston and Watertown with great tunes and dancing on the porch. Gosh, I love my friends. What a relief. I am so glad they took him alive; I was afraid it would end with suicide-by-cop. I hope we find out why this happened, and that they don't mess it up.

After waking up far too early this morning, I actually took a nap. I really needed that. Acted like a slug for a bit more, then walked up to the library to get a couple DVDs (season 1 of The Wild Wild West (!) and The Avengers) and marveled at the leaves and flowers bursting out all over. I talked gardening with my next-door neighbor, and have the windows open. It is finally, gloriously spring. And tomorrow I'm going plant shopping at Seven Arrows Herb Farm with [livejournal.com profile] sea_dark_wine.

Aaaaahhhhhhhhh.

We keep going back and forth between almost spring and winter again. Today it was barely above freezing, with cold rain and sleet. I took this shot of pussy willows yesterday, when it was more tolerable.

We had eight (eight!) new people start this week, and yesterday they had each of them sit with one of us to see how we work. I had two different guys sit with me for an hour or so each, and later one of the gals asked to sit with me because she'd heard I was good with the script. A compliment, yes, but didn't you know I finally got hold of someone to pitch to just after she got up to go to the ladies room! She got back in time to hear the end, but didn't get to hear me do the actually spiel. Oh, well.

But yeah, they all wanted to ask me questions, because I had a great week last week and I'm the star (so far) this month. So I'm finally the popular girl. *g*

I've been walking on my lunch break, even though it's been cold & windy the past couple of days. Today I was rewarded with a pussy willow sighting near my office. I love pussy willows - a sure sign of spring around the corner!

I also went for a walk after supper, along the river. I found skunk cabbage emerging from the muck, and spotted a great blue heron on the way back home. I wonder if it's the same one I saw last summer, farther down the river by the library?

I've been having a pretty good week at work: 2 sales each day so far! That's pretty darned good. One was a company I've bought things from in the past. Of course, I told her that! I'll have to make sure I go there next time I need something they sell.

I need to have a good month. March was disappointing, for our whole company. The weather really worked against us.

Oh, and yay! I'll get to go home at noon on Friday!

witch hazel, originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle.

Even though it feels like winter has been endless, I saw signs today that it will end. Melting snow, green things poking out of the ground, and these witch hazel blossoms brightening up the park. I took a nice long walk today, and it felt good to be moving. This winter had made me a slug, with the sidewalks and paths covered in snow and ice much of the time. Maybe by next weekend, I'll be able to get out into the woods! That would make me very happy.

Not as much sun as promised today, but it was a mostly nice day. I went for a long walk, through the park and wildlife sanctuary, and I saw some amazing things.

It feels like I missed a chunk of spring because of all the rain. The trout lily, daffodils, and magnolia are long gone. The tulips are almost past.

The irises are just starting to open. I even saw buds on the rose bushes. Summer flowers will be here soon, and spring will be a memory.

hello there, originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle.

Another day, another cat on a porch. This one kept meowing at me, but he wouldn't let me pet him. He didn't run away either, though.

It was cold and grey today, but I had to get out anyway. I found a few bright spots in the gloom.

bright spots )

Also, the cutest video I've seen in a long time: a penguin being tickled! I had no idea they were ticklish, let alone that they giggle. *g*

It was another gorgeous day today, but of course I was back at work. We couldn't even open the windows, because the painter closed them on wet paint last week. Grr.

At least there is daylight after work now, so I went for a walk through the cemetery next door. These pansies were in a pot, but there were things blooming in the ground and on the trees, too.

Today turned out much nicer than was forecast, so I had another pleasant walk through the park and woods. And look: daffodils!

It's just now starting to cloud over. I'm so glad it waited to do that!

It was a gorgeous, springlike day today. I went for two long walks, taking in the sights and smells of spring. A few more days like this, and there will be flowers everywhere!

spring! )

I actually slept until 8 this morning, and it would have been even later if my mom hadn't called me. Stress is exhausting. A few hours in nature on a lovely day was just the tonic I needed. I'm turning the ringer off on my phone before I go to bed. ;)

ready..., originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle.

The buds on the trees look like they're ready for some action. We just need a little warm, sunny weather!

Also, )

And I heard peepers in the swamp behind the parking lot when I left work today! Yay, peepers!

I got a new computer at work today. I didn't get it until the end of the day, so there was no time to play with it and customize it. It's going to take a little getting used to, as it's Windows 7 (I had XP before). The first thing I noticed about it was that it looks suspiciously like Mac OS X. They're not even pretending they're not stealing from Mac anymore! *g*

The water is even higher this week at the wildlife sanctuary.

It was still quite windy, but also warm enough to wear a sweatshirt and fleece vest. There were lots of people out walking, and I was greeted by several dogs. Green things are poking out of the ground all over the place. In another week, we should have daffodils and hyacinth. Spring is getting here, slowly but surely.

A lovely, sunshiny start to spring today! Lots of crocuses spreading cheer all over the place.

My neighbor's daffodils are just starting to bloom.

Down at Grandmothers' Garden, the tulips are pushing up through the leaf litter.

emerging )

I sorted through all my photos (that was quite the job!) and found the pile that I had snitched from mom at Christmas, and scanned in a ton of them. I made a set of all the old family photos, which you can see here. My mom was quite the shutterbug; I'm sure I get it from her! :)

Did everybody get a chance to see the moon last night? Wasn't she beautiful?

Blessed Ostara/Happy Spring!
