Today was the annual outing to see the winners of the Clio Awards. There were nine of us this time, but none of us won anything in the raffle. I'm still using the messenger bag I won last year.
The best part is, of course, the free food. They had the usual salads, sandwiches, and cookies. We loaded up two plates of cookies to take back to the office, and nobody even blinked. Hee!
I didn't think the commercials were as good this year as last year. Not as many of them were funny, for one thing. Some of them were really bizarre. A few were quite obviously not intended for American audiences, being much too risque for this prudish country. There was an AIDS awareness one from France that was downright R-rated (and funny to boot). Several of them were much longer than the usual 30-second spots that we're used to, and there were a couple of serial campaigns that were worthy of the soap network. All in all, it's very interesting to see what different agencies do. Sometimes the commercials are the most entertaining thing on. *g*
