People really do call us for everything. Forget Google, forget the library; the weekly hometown newspaper must know all. Today, a man called asking if he should be worried because there was a hawk nesting in his yard. I asked him if he had any small animals, and he said no, so I told him to enjoy it. It's a cool bird.

Another guy called today asking how he could place an ad in a network without going through me so he didn't have to pay the commission. I said that I am a salesperson, on commission, and he's asking me to tell him how to do something that would make me money. "Am I saying that?" he asked. "Yes," I replied. D'oh.

It's a good thing there were cookies.

cookies!, originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle.

A coworker left these cookies on my desk this morning. Macaroons! Nom.

Another coworker asked me when the days start getting longer, so I looked up the sunrise/sunset times and, as it turns out, we're at the earliest sunset right now. It's a couple more weeks until the days start getting longer, but they won't get any earlier, and in just over a week they'll start getting later again. That's cheering. (Sunset is at 4:20 here, until next Wednesday)

Facebook talks like a pirate! If you go down to the bottom of the page and click English (US), a box pops up that allows you to choose English (Pirate). Then, everything is in Pirate Speak! It's high-larious! Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] zarq for the heads-up. :)

Must pack this evening for Beltane: I'm heading over to East Bridgewater tomorrow after work to sleep over and go to the maypole-on-the-Charles eeeeeearly Friday morning. Must remember flower garland. And possibly an umbrella. Cross your fingers that it doesn't rain! Who else is going to be there? Anyone? Bueller?

But first, cookies. Fresh from the oven.

Last time I was visiting mom, she sent me home with frozen cookie dough (among other things). I finally remembered to thaw it out, and last night I baked a couple dozen oatmeal raisin cookies. Yummmmmm! My apartment smelled like cookies, and they are soooooo good warm. Sharing with the coworkers today. :)

It was so nice to wake up in my own bed this morning! Totally worth driving through the rain last night. Even though [livejournal.com profile] ned_gasket tried to tempt me with omlettes for breakfast. I love you guys, but I just don't sleep well away from home, and I was feeling the holiday overload. I had a lot of fun, though; my cheeks hurt from laughing during the Yankee Swap. We are one silly group of folks!

I love the trivet, and the faery top!! I can't wait to have an opportunity to wear it. The top, not the trivet. *g*

[livejournal.com profile] justjanus gave me a calendar of his photographs. What a neat idea! I should do that. Next year. :)

Just when I thought I was through with the cookies, my mom send me home with a tub full of them. And a linzer torte. After asking if I'd lost weight. Thanks, mom! My coworkers will share in the bounty. *g*

So glad to have an extra day to decompress. It will be a nice, short workweek. Yay!

We just had our cookie exchange, and I am the proud owner of a bag full of cookies. When I signed up for this, I was thinking how much fun making the cookies would be; I wasn't thinking what the heck will I do with six dozen cookies? I will be bringing some to the coven Yule this Saturday, and likely to [livejournal.com profile] textiletart and company's xmas party on Monday. Mmmmmm, cookies!

There is food *everywhere* in this building. Several grateful groups have sent along gift baskets, which have been arranged on the kitchen table. The company bought us pizza for lunch, and of course there are cookies everywhere. We've all been grazing all day. I'm thinking supper is going to be a light one. Maybe toast.

Our Secret Santa exchange was this afternoon, also. Someone gave me a Barnes & Noble gift certificate! How thoughtful. :)

Not much work is getting done, but there's really not a lot to do today. I finished all my last runs yesterday, because we have an early deadline this week. We're working a half-day on Friday, so we'll be doing the classifieds Thursday afternoon. It's not a big time for advertising.

Ooh, Kitti said she was talking with a photographer friend, and he said there is a good chance we could get our pictures displayed in a downtown Springfield cafe! Wouldn't that be nifty? I should get some more of that canvas-texture photo paper; I love the way photos look on that, and a lot of my photos would work really well that way. I have some regular photo paper somewhere as well. Squee!

One of the features of a paid account is being able to read your friends' friends all on one page, which is shiny. I've actually found a couple of new additions to the f-list that way. In the past, I occasionally read friends' f-lists, but now I can really waste time! *g*

I'm making the cookies for our exchange tonight, so that I'm not running around like a chicken with its head cut off tomorrow night. I didn't want to make them too far in advance, though, so they'd be fresh. I have to bring twelve half-dozen packages for all the participants. Hey, wait, make that eleven... I'm the twelfth. Woo, cookies for moi! I have a stack of Chinese food boxes that I'd gotten a while back for another project that never happened, so the packaging is taken care of. I'm making potato chip cookies, which sound weird but they're really yummy. This should be fun. I had to call mum to make sure the batch would make enough (it wouldn't, so I doubled the recipe). If you want the recipe, just ask. Crushing the chips is the most fun part. *g*

I have a question for those of you who are paid users: how does one go about getting a custom mood theme? Where would one find such a thing, and how does one utilize it? I might as well go for broke, ya know? :)

It's taken me most of the day to get caught up from being off for two days. A lot of that is because both Kim and Diane aren't here today, though. I had to ask for Carolyn, who is in sales support, to come out and help me this morning. When she got here, she spent the first hour complaining bitterly. Some help! At least she answers the phone and greets people coming in the door. Which is what I needed. She left at 2:00, and now Noreen, who is the admin assistant, is here to help me. She is much more pleasant, and not complaining at all. Yay!

When Kim is on her leave of absence, Carolyn will be out here every day. Oh, joy.

The cookies were a big hit. I can always count on the employees here to eat free food. I kept one bag of them up front to share, and put the other in the kitchen. The one in the kitchen is already gone. *g*

It's a lovely day today, and the trees are tipped in green. The azaleas across the way are abloom in vivid violet. The wind is howling past the open windows. There's a fishing tourney down at the park, with a couple dozen poles set up along the shore of the pond. It's a perfect spring day. And I have cookies. :D

And! I made cookies. :)
Friday is Jennifer's last day at the Reminder, and I promised her oatmeal lace cookies before she left. And I'm off Friday. So. I baked. Oops! One broke! Had to eat it. Couldn't be giving broken cookies to Jennifer. *g*
