tracks in the snow, originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle.

It's been a mostly interesting few days. Interesting in a mostly good way. I had a good week at work, making five sales for the first time in a while. Made it through two snowstorms with little trouble. It got warm at the end of the week and much of the snow melted. Friday was our company holiday luncheon; they took us to a Japanese steakhouse, which was fun. I'd never been to one before. Unfortunately, we got the one chef who decided to cook on just the one grill (there were two for each table) and of course it was the one on the other side from me. My boss, who was sitting next to me, was not happy about that. But our CEO gave us each a card with two movie tickets in it, so I wasn't too upset.

My Solstice day was quiet and nice. I took a walk along the rail trail, pictured above. It was nice to see the sun. I'm looking forward to the lengthening days ahead.

I went to see the Hobbit movie with friends this afternoon, and then we went to Bertucci's for some lovely mushroom & asiago pizza. Yum. I liked this film better than the first one, and even though it diverges quite wildly from the book, it was entertaining. The dragon is incredible, and of course has the voice of one of my favorite actors (Benedict Cumberbatch). It could have used more Martin Freeman/Bilbo, though. It is his story, after all.

It's going to be a mixed-up week, with Christmas falling smack in the middle, but somehow I'll muddle through. Right now, I must bake shortbread and wrap up my boss' gift. Happy Solstice, Festivus, Christmas, holiday-of-your-choice!

After the initial flurry of excitement, we got used to having a film crew in our office and went on with our day. They were back in the art/news room, so I didn't get to see a lot of what they were doing, but it was interesting. They had the actresses out here in the front office, picking their wardrobe. Yeah, it's a low-budget flick. I'd never heard of any of the other actors in the movie. One was quite elderly, and had to be driven up here from NYC (about a 3 hour drive). I wonder what role she plays?

The trailer was a rented RV that they parked out back. They ordered lunch from Romito's down the street (the makeup artist ordered, and told them on the phone, "I'm on a film set, I don't have a lot of time.") and ate it out back, just like we do when we get lunch. Mr. Bernsen seems to be a regular guy, just doing his job. They all do, pretty much. It was interesting to see the process, what little I got to see. It seems to involve a lot of waiting around.

They filmed in Chris' (co-publisher) office, and in the cubicles. They hung out in front of the kitchen for much of the day, so it was impossible to get water or use the microwave until late in the afternoon. They left about a half-hour ago. It was exciting to be part of the film industry for a few hours! A couple of folks in the back got to be extras in the background, and someone printed out photos and had Mr. Bernsen sign them, which he did with a smile. Nice guy. :)

It's probably the most exciting thing that's happened here in years. *g*

OK kids, the movie crew is here! We met Corbin Bernsen, who is very personable. He was reading our monthly, Prime, and asking questions about it. He's pretty laid back, and I'm sure he's used to people being star-struck (like some of our sales staff, who keep finding things to do here in the front office).

The info on the movie is here on IMDb. It's called Angel's Blade 2: The Ascension. Yeah, it's a horror flick. *g*
