I don't have internet at home yet (they didn't have any Saturday appointments until after the holiday, and my next weekday off is next Wednesday), so I have fallen hopelessly behind in all my social media. I don't miss most of it, except for LJ. I hope to get caught up someday, but I doubt that's possible at this point. Please let me know if I've missed anything earth-shattering, cool, important, or wonderful.

I've been in the new place for a week now, and it's starting to feel like a home. I've unpacked most everything except for the books and a few non-essential items. I have dishes, and groceries, and so far everything works the way it's supposed to.

I found it appropriate that I was starting anew at Samhain, the Celtic new year. It's all about endings & beginnings. The ending of staying in someone else's home, and the beginning of living in my own place. The fallow time, when thoughts turn inward and we rest from the busy summer. Boy, do I need rest.

How has life been treating you?

I really haven't given a lot of thought to preparing for this so-called FrankenStorm that's heading our way. We're not on the coast, and it looks like it will hook around us and not hit us directly, so I was prepared for some minor inconvenience, perhaps losing power at most.

Then I got a call from my boss telling me we're closed tomorrow. O_o

So maybe I should be a little more concerned. Not worried, not panicked, but alert. Prepared.

Hopefully, they're just being extra cautious because of what happened after Katrina. Hopefully.

Be careful, East Coast friends! I know some of you *are* in the direct path of Sandy.

In other news, we got a lot of my stuff moved into the new apartment this weekend. All that's left is the bigger stuff, like my bed & dresser, and a couple bookcases. Everything in boxes and bags is there. I even unpacked a couple boxes today. It's starting to feel more like a home instead of a possibility.

I am so looking forward to being back in my own bed!
