heading out of 2012
Dec. 31st, 2012 07:52 amThis was the view down my steps yesterday, before I shoveled them off. It looked like we got about 8", possibly more. Fortunately, it was the light, fluffy sort of snow and not the concrete-like wet snow we got last week. Still, my back is spasming and my arms are sore after shoveling the steps, the path, and around my car. Owie.
I met some friends for a viewing of the new Hobbit movie. I mostly enjoyed it; it's been long enough since I read it that I didn't notice all the changes. I think Peter Jackson makes beautiful films, and he has a knack for really good casting, but I think he dwells too much on battle/fight scenes, and adds too many bits that don't really further the story. Martin Freeman is just brilliant, he is the perfect Bilbo. And who knew Dwarves could be hot? *g*
Tonight, I'm going over to my friends' place for our traditional New Year's Eve dinner with a small circle of close friends. Since we live in the same town now, I'll be cabbing it home instead of staying overnight. I took today off, and I'm really glad I did because I have a million things to do. I lost a whole day on Saturday due to a 24-hour bug of some sort which left me useless for anything but curling up with herbal tea and reading.
Happy and safe New Year to everyone! May 2013 be the best year yet for us all.
