out in the woods

It was a nice cool morning, if a bit overcast, so I headed down to the woods to escape from the apartment (and the phone, and the computer). Alas, it was not the quiet refuge I craved as the airshow is in town this weekend; my reveries were often interrupted by airplanes and jets passing overhead. Still, it was better than being cooped up inside.


Lots of fungi out there today.









This alien-looking caterpillar was hanging in the path; I tried to take its picture to no avail, so I helped it down and got this one:



As miz_geek has also observed, the hot dry summer has stressed a lot of trees, and leaves are starting to turn yellow already.



I found that lovely mossy spot by the river again, and lit a stick of incense. Its smoke caught a beam of sunlight, and looked rather ethereal.



It's a really lovely spot, with this hobbit-looking tree next to it.



On the way into the park, the fountain in the rose garden caught the sun and made a rainbow:



Even with the airshow noise, it was a nice walk. :)
