into the woods
Mar. 16th, 2008 04:58 pmI went down to the wildlife sanctuary this afternoon, hoping to find more signs of spring. There was quite a lot of snow still in the woods, so it'll be a while longer before things start popping out of the ground.
Not a lot of folks out today, but I did see the requisite dogwalkers (one of whom was playing tug-of-war with her pit bull while talking on her cell phone). There was a lot of mud in addition to the ice & snow on the paths, but the ice was all gone from the river. I saw a couple of ducks resting on a rock in the river, just hanging out.
The weather kept alternating between sprinkles and looking like it was going to clear, then settled on light rain as I was heading up the path to the car. Good timing!
I have the corned beef on the stove, getting ready to feed me all week. My apartment smells so yummy!
As I was walking around, it occurred to me that this is the last weekend of winter. Yay!
