I've had quite the adventuresome day. I started out by going for a long walk in the woods, where I finally put together a nature still life (I had the idea ages ago).

I also saw some actual wildlife...

A hawk blessed me with its presence, sitting in a tree after flying over my head.



This frog actually sat still while I took its portrait.



There was quite a crop of ducklings in the park this year.



I managed to capture a couple of butterflies with my camera as well.



After lunch, I walked down to the bank to get quarters for laundry. There just so happened to be the grand opening of a new cupcake bakery across the street; all they had left was cookies & cream, but I didn't mind a bit. It was delicious.



Just doing my bit to support local business, you know. ;)

Late this afternoon, I remembered that I needed cotton balls (to remove my nail color), so I walked down to CVS. I met a new doggy in the neighborhood, a very friendly shepherd of some sort who leaned up against me in a doggy hug.

On the next street, a friendly kitty kept trying to follow me; I had to stop a car on the street and put her back in her yard! She let me add to my cats on porches series first, though.



On another street, I came across another kitty who allowed me to take its picture as well.



writeonq inspired me with her lovely story today; I made a few encouraging notes, which I will leave around town for people to find and hopefully be cheered by.



That was much more fun that going to the gem show again. :)

Wow ~ that's a day chock full of wonderful things! Will the nature still lifes become a series? (That would be cool!) Wildlife and posing kitties and the big dog lean (isn't it funny how they do that?) for the WIN! Plus cupcakes ~ Oh yea! Glad to hear you had such great adventures, and happy to see the photos of them.

And can I just tell you I got gooosebumps when I read about the notes you made... so very awesome!

Will the nature still lifes become a series?

That's the plan! I thought of it weeks ago, before I went to camp I think, but it just didn't happen until now.

It was a really nice day. :)

Your story kind of combined with Post Secret in my mind, and went from there. It may have been the purple ink - my favorite pen is my purple fountain pen. And I have a little notebook with a handmade paper cover that has flower petals in it. Creative alchemy, so to speak. :D
