Autumn pond, originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle.

There's a Photoshop app for the iPad. Whee! I foresee hours of silly fun ahead.

Which is a good thing, because it just started to snow. The forecasts range from 4" to over a foot, so I'm just going to snuggle in and wait it out. No sense getting all angsty, since there's nothing I can do about it, and I don't have anywhere else I have to be.

I stopped at the grocery store last night on the way home from work, so I have plenty of food. I went down to the library this morning, so I have reading material. And I stopped at Mama Cakes for a mini cupcake, so I have a treat. I just hope the power doesn't go out. That would not be very much fun.

I also hope the trees don't suffer too much. A lot of them still have plenty of leaves left, and a lot of snow could be damaging, especially if it's the heavy, wet kind of snow.

If the sun comes out tomorrow, though, there will be some pretty pictures in the pipeline. :)

What are you all up to this weekend?

bejeweled, originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle.

It's been an odd sort of day. On edge, waiting, waiting for the storm we keep hearing about. Seeing it on TV, the huge waves, the strong winds. Knowing it's headed this way in a few hours. Watching the idiots from the Weather Channel standing on the beach, nearly blowing away. Why do they do that? What does it prove? I hope none of them get hurt.

I went out for a long walk this morning, forgetting that the library is closed Saturdays during the summer, but Mama Cakes is not. I am armed with cupcakes to get me through the storm.

Finished reading The Last Werewolf; highly recommended. I'd heard good things about it, all of them true.

Bands of light rain passed through this afternoon. It stopped for a while, so I walked down to the park, knowing I won't be able to go anywhere tomorrow. It was eerily empty; I saw only one couple, and one park ranger.

I saw a couple large groups of sparrows, and hoped all the birds, critters, and butterflies find shelter for the storm.

I am clean, dry, and well-stocked. I'm not worried, but not taking the storm lightly either. It's a huge one. Now comes the wait. Sending thoughts of safety to all my friends nearer the shore.

nature still life #1, originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle.

I've had quite the adventuresome day. I started out by going for a long walk in the woods, where I finally put together a nature still life (I had the idea ages ago).

I also saw some actual wildlife... )

[livejournal.com profile] writeonq inspired me with her lovely story today; I made a few encouraging notes, which I will leave around town for people to find and hopefully be cheered by.

That was much more fun that going to the gem show again. :)
