This is the photo I wanted to take for the boston.com November contest. Isn't this a great tree?

I got the rest of today's pix up; you can see the rest of them here.

Since all of my local friends were either sick or otherwise engaged, I went to the movies by myself. No biggie; I do that all the time if I really want to see something, and nobody is available to go with me. I had a pair of free passes given to me by a coworker, so now I can go see a second movie for free. There was a preview for an upcoming George Clooney movie that caught my eye...

The theatre complex was pretty busy, which surprised me. I had to park pretty far out in the lot. It's a nice Saturday afternoon, and who knows how many more of those we'll get this year? The theatre itself was about half full.

The movie was fun, quite enjoyable. I had a good time, and laughed a lot. It's funny but not stupid, and George, Ewan, and Jeff Bridges were all up to their usual level. I'm not really a fan of Kevin Spacey, but he played an unlikeable character, so that worked for me. There were some fun in-jokes (Ewan MacGregor's character didn't know what a Jedi was), and the flashbacks full of New Age hokeyness made me giggle quite a bit. I know people who believe all this stuff. I may be a Witch, but I have a healthy sense of skepticism. ;)

Plus, the goats were cute. Thumbs up for The Men Who Stare at Goats.

I saw another preview for a flick that I think is called Pirate Radio, and that looks to be fun as well. Also, Jack Davenport (Norrington from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies) is in it, and I think I have a crush on him. I don't know if it's his voice, the accent, or what, but my antennae go up whenever I see him in something. (Don't worry, George is still #1)

Lest you think I didn't get out and enjoy the nice weather today, let me assure you that I took a nice walk down to the library, where I got out [livejournal.com profile] ellen_datlow's Poe (which I plan to buy when I have actual spending money, someday), and Douglas Clegg's Isis, a supernatural novella set in Cornwall. Sounds spine-tingly. I took the long way home, enjoying the sunshine and nifty cloud formations. Ooh, and I was treated to a lovely sunset on the ride home from the theatre. Great, swirly cirrus clouds lit in pink and purple.

I'm hoping that we get a nice sunset tomorrow, too; this month's contest on boston.com's RAW is silhouettes, and the photo must be taken this month. I have a tree in mind that would make a nice silhouette against a sunset.

'twas a day

My day started out iffy, with a customer who was upset that I hadn't called him about our new website. I apologized profusely (and repeatedly), as it was unlike me not to have called him (he's a regular customer); I proceeded to show him the website, and he bought a package. Go me. Then I checked my notes after he left, and I did indeed call him, on Jan. 21, and left him a message. Ha!

Then my boss brought me out some ads she'd clipped from a free pennysaver-type paper that she'd picked up, one of which was another regular customer of mine. She suggested calling him about the Home Show map, which I did, and he bought an ad. Woo hoo!

The rest of the day was pretty busy, which is good. Things are picking up.

It was my boss' birthday today, and someone baked brownies. Then Joe from Armata's brought more brownies, just like the one I posted a pic of a couple weeks ago (though much smaller). Snagged one of those for dessert tonight. :9

I was treated to a very pretty sunset on the way home: the sun was huge, and the color of molten metal. The sky was rose and copper, and the crows were making their way to their roost by the hundred. By the time I got to Westfield, the sky had faded to lavender, and by the time I got home, midnight blue. It was glorious.

Long day today, but the sunset was worth it. I took this out the window while going about 55MPH. Action shot! *g*

The name is from the song that was playing on the radio at the time I took the picture. Good ol' Eric Clapton. :)

The sun is going down late enough that I get to enjoy the sunset when I get out of work now. Today's was especially pretty. :)

My head went all 'splody from last night's LOST. It's a good thing I taped it; I'm going to have to watch it again to begin to make any sense of it.

I'm also pretty tired, since it was on until 11. I can't usually stay awake watching TV that late, but all the plot twists kept me going on adrenaline. *g*

Wow, wow, wow! This gorgeous sunset greeted me as I headed west on my way home from work tonight. When traffic stopped on the bridge, I rolled down my window and snapped this one. I tried to get more, but there are limited places for me to pull over on my commute, so I will just have to hold the rest of it in my memory.

This is why I always carry my camera with me. :)

If you look toward the bottom, center-right, you can see the red sun behind the clouds.

Ooh, and don't forget to watch the eclipse tonight!

I thought I'd share the lovely sunset I was treated to on the drive home this evening. I rolled down my windows and shot a bunch of pix every time I stopped and had a good view. I even got off the highway at one point to get some better shots. Click the link for more, and enjoy!
