Moon, moon

Luckily for me, the skies were clear last night for the eclipse. My downstairs neighbors and I were hanging out in the driveway enjoying the spectacle. I'm glad it happened at a reasonable time, because I am definitely not a night owl, especially on a school night. I took pictures of several stages, starting with the full moon )

I'm pretty pleased with them, considering I don't have a tripod or a DSLR. My Nikon Coolpix rocks.

I finally got around to making a Facebook page for my photos. It's here: LizzieBelle Photography.

mmmmmm, shrimp, originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle.

Today was free food day at work. The boss bought us pizza for lunch, and lots of people brought in other stuff, like this shrimp cocktail. And of course there were cookies. Nom.

I went for a long walk at lunch, to walk off some of that food. There were people playing hockey on the pond; it seems like only yesterday that it was just starting to freeze over. Of course, it feels like only last month that there were goslings and ducklings paddling around on it, too. This year flew by.

I woke up around 3:30 this morning, so I threw on some shoes and a coat and went out to see the eclipse. It was cloudy, of course. [livejournal.com profile] desert_sparrow got some really nice shots of it, though. Go check them out!

It felt like Wednesday all day, and I just figured out why: we're closed on Friday, so it is sort of our Wednesday. We're closed on Monday too, and I have a few hours I have to use up or lose, so I'm only working a day and a half next week. Woo. If we get that snow this weekend, I might get some nice winter pictures at last. The storm this week stayed on the coast, and all we got were flurries.

The Solstice just passed, so happy Midwinter/Yule to you! Go out and look at the moon, she's beautiful tonight.

the year stretches ahead, originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle.

We got our new 2011 desktop calendars today, and I thought this made a fitting metaphor for the coming year, stretching out ahead and yet unknown.

The calendars are small, about the size of a ruler. I like the way my camera focused on it. I'm still having fun finding out what it can do, this camera.

I'm not sure if I'll be able to see whether it can capture a lunar eclipse; as said eclipse will be happening in the way wee hours, and it may be cloudy anyway, I don't think I'll be seeing this one. I will, however, be paying attention to my dreams. A Solstice eclipse is a powerful thing, and my dreams have been quite intense lately, anyway.

I dreamed a few days ago about an exhibit of the Swords of Wayland, which no one but me wanted to go see. I woke up before I made it to the exhibit, but over the weekend I watched the Robin of Sherwood episodes called "The Swords of Wayland" to see if there were clues. It was about calling Lucifer, the Lord of Light. Swords, light, balance, eclipse. Powerful, and yet subtle, stuff.

I think it will be important to stay mindfully grounded tomorrow. All this cosmic energy might have me floating around in my cubicle if I don't! ;)

Wow, wow, wow! This gorgeous sunset greeted me as I headed west on my way home from work tonight. When traffic stopped on the bridge, I rolled down my window and snapped this one. I tried to get more, but there are limited places for me to pull over on my commute, so I will just have to hold the rest of it in my memory.

This is why I always carry my camera with me. :)

If you look toward the bottom, center-right, you can see the red sun behind the clouds.

Ooh, and don't forget to watch the eclipse tonight!

This gorgeous photo of this morning's eclipse was on the Boston Globe's website. Dreamy, no?

In other news, our server is back up & running. Yay.

The server here at work has gone kablooie, which means there's quite a lot we can't do today. Like print. Or send tomorrow's paper off to the printer. Eek! It's going to be at least two days late, which means we'll be getting calls from people wondering where the paper is. Oh joy. They also can't do any work on ads, so they had to send the whole art department home. Oh yeah, and we have early deadlines this week due to the holiday weekend. So the rest of this week is going to be frenzied, to say the least! We can enter ads into the system, and of course we can sell, so at least there's plenty for the sales department to do. Thank gods the internet's not down!

I woke up at about 5:00 this morning to go to the bathroom, and I peeked out the window to see the eclipse. I saw the moon with a chunk gone, but decided to go back to bed. I had dreams about the eclipse, though! It was huge and red, and hovering just over the building next door. That was pretty neat. I love it when my subconscious fills in the blanks like that. :)
