rain on my new windows, originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle.

It's been mostly pouring most of the day, so I've been holed up here in the batcave for most of it. I did go for a walk when it looked like it had stopped, but it started up again soon after I walked out the door. Oh, well.

I watched The Big Chill while eating lunch; boy, I haven't seen that in a long time! Some really great moments in that movie. Great soundtrack, too. Gosh, everybody looks so young. It's weird to realize that I'm older now than they all were when they made it.

I started to tackle the living room, iPod playing my Babylon mix. I emptied out three boxes of junk, keeping very little of it. A lot of old computer books that are now obsolete, papers and receipts that are no longer useful, a set of speakers to a stereo I no longer own: flotsam and jetsam of a past life. I also have a pile of books to give to the library for their book sale, and a pile of things too nice to throw out that I no longer want; must find a place to take them and give them away. Work, maybe, or the next Sabbat I go to. I have a lot more to go through and get rid of. Feels good to purge.

Hmm, the rain seems to have abated again. Perhaps I should drag some of the trash out to the dumpster.

Several people on my f-list have posted about getting rid of *stuff* recently, and that's where I find myself gravitating lately as well. I go through periodic bouts of tossing, donating, and selling, and I'm entering another. Seeing my apartment crammed with camping gear on top of the usual clutter has pushed me over the edge. I have piles of *stuff* everywhere: toss-it piles, donate-it piles, sell-it piles. The tossing will happen this week, and the donating & selling will start when I get back from camp. I *have* to do this, or I will get buried and never surface.

The funny thing is, I haven't been accumulating *stuff* for three or four years now, yet somehow it seems to be multiplying. How does that happen? I think it's breeding.

I always feel better after a purge like this. Lighter, freer. I need to be more unfettered. My *stuff* is dragging me down.
