Packing for camp, that is. I got the stuff out of the basement that I needed, and it's already in the car. Tent, tarp, sleeping bag, comforter, extra cooler with bonus air mattress inside.

I can't tell you how many times I've had dreams where I found myself at camp without something important, like my tent or clothing. I always have that niggling voice in the back of my head saying, "You've forgotten something!" This is my 20th year in a row, and still I always feel like I'm forgetting something. So far, knock wood, I've not forgotten anything important.

I'm mostly packed; all that's left, really, is the small stuff, like toiletries and sundries. Deciding whether to bring my tote bag, my backpack, or both. Which book, which notebook, which pen. Little things.

When I dragged out my totes to pack my clothes in, I found a bunch of summer clothing I forgot I had. Bonus!

I'm mulling over bringing stuff to give away. Nail polishes I never wear anymore, books I'll never read. Or maybe I'll save it for the yard sale I want to have, but must talk friends into doing it with me. What I'd really like to do is have a yard sale at camp, but I'm not sure how that would go over with the owners and my campmates. Maybe we should think about doing that next year, and ask around.

Today's pic is some yucca flowers I found on my evening walk. Yucca always makes me think of my grandfather, who grew it in his yard. It's like a little wave from him. I love the curly little tendrils on the leaves, and the flower spikes are taller than I am. So creamy and white.

In three days, I will be halfway there, hanging out with my aunt & uncle in Binghamton. In four days, I will be there, hanging out with my honeys. I can't believe it's almost here already!

On my walk this evening (it was finally not too hot to go walking), I started thinking about the things I *do* want, as opposed to all the things I've been shedding the past couple of weeks.

It's not a lot, really... )

Also, Joe from Armata's came to visit us today... )

I am so looking forward to getting all that crap stuff out of my living room. Tag sale starts tomorrow!

Mostly packed. Trying to scale down the stuff, but I'm not succeeding so much. Trying simultaneously to clean the apartment. Somewhat successful, but I'm still overwhelmed by all the stuff.

Seriously, I'm cleaning this place out when I get back. You can hold me to it! Selling off everything that will sell, giving away everything that's too nice to throw out, tossing the stuff that's useless. Packing away the rest. If it's still packed in a year, out it goes.

In three days, I will be home at Brushwood. The one week that makes the other 51 worth it. No TV, no computer, no traffic, no mail. Bliss. I checked the number for phone posting (the one I had was no good), so there may be phone posts from the field.

There will be a full moon while we're there, so I'm hoping to get some serious magickal work done. One of my covenmates will be there, and I'll be surrounded by magickal folk. I might even go to a workshop or two. Hey, it might happen!

I'm taking a notebook and a couple of story ideas. I have extra batteries for the camera. I'm looking for a book to bring. Any suggestions? I even have a small sketchbook.

OK, I have way too much stuff, and I am trying to pare it down, but! Who can resist Skeleton Pirate Finger Puppets?

Hee!

So, I think I'm packed. I'm looking at my list (and all the notes I've added to it), and it looks like I'm done. I even had extra room in the totes, and added a couple of things. You just never know, you know?

All that's left is to make sure everything makes it into the car tomorrow. :O

I freshed the hair color ('golden copper'), found the missing sarong, and even found my moonstone ring that's been missing forever. Woo! I'm on a roll. *g*

Nighty night, LJ!

Several people on my f-list have posted about getting rid of *stuff* recently, and that's where I find myself gravitating lately as well. I go through periodic bouts of tossing, donating, and selling, and I'm entering another. Seeing my apartment crammed with camping gear on top of the usual clutter has pushed me over the edge. I have piles of *stuff* everywhere: toss-it piles, donate-it piles, sell-it piles. The tossing will happen this week, and the donating & selling will start when I get back from camp. I *have* to do this, or I will get buried and never surface.

The funny thing is, I haven't been accumulating *stuff* for three or four years now, yet somehow it seems to be multiplying. How does that happen? I think it's breeding.

I always feel better after a purge like this. Lighter, freer. I need to be more unfettered. My *stuff* is dragging me down.
