I went with my friends J&R to a crafts show yesterday, to a Historic New England home in Lincoln, the Codman Estate. There were lots of pretties to look at, and we got to tour the first floor of the house and the gardens.

I love these old New England estates, with big old houses full of beautiful paintings and furnishings, and lovely grounds.

Since we were going to be in Lincoln anyway, it occurred to me that a side trip to see something I had seen on Atlas Obscura would be fun. It's called Ponyhenge, and it's just the sort of weird that I love.

It's a collection (nobody knows who started it, or who contributes to it) of rocking horses, hobby horses, and other assorted horse toys arranged in a field like a henge.

It's right by the road, not far off the main route through Lincoln. The whole thing just makes me so happy; it's fun, whimsical, and weird. Kind of like me. :)

Last weekend, I went with a friend to Tower Hill Botanical Garden for a fun event they held called "Stempunk." It was a steampunk-themed flower show, complete with a costume contest. It was a lovely day for February in New England, so we wandered around the grounds a bit after taking in the flowers and costumes.

Flowers! Greek gods! )

Things are still going well for me at work, but several people have left in the past few weeks (three just this week!), so it's a little more tense than it was. We'll have to see how things shake out. But it looks good for me being hired on permanently, and things are happening in our field that should give us some good selling points, so the future still looks sunny.

Two days of 70 degree weather didn't hurt, either. Of course we're back to snow today, but not a lot, and it won't last. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

I had a most fabulous time in New York over the weekend. It was just what I needed to get out of my routine and do something different. And except for a flat tire on the bus on the ride down, it all went swimmingly.

Lots of pictures and rambling about the city... )

Too soon, it was time to head back to Penn Station to catch the bus home. The ride back to Boston was fast and uneventful, and I was full of memories to last until the next time.

Thank you Deanna, thank you Patricia, and thank you New York! I love you all!

OMG LOL

If you need a really fun time-waster, Meow Mix has cat games on their website. I'm really bad at them, but I haven't giggled that hard in a long time. These people know cats. *g*

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] zarq for the LOLz!

Last night's Pirate Adventure was a blast! A bunch of us dressed up (Nancy here went all out) and everybody had a good time. The movie was fun, if a bit overlong & bloated in spots, but we all got into the swashbuckling spirit and enjoyed it.

I had headed over to [livejournal.com profile] ami_1's place after work, where we had pizza and lounged on the deck before the skeeters chased us back inside. It was a short hop over to the theatre, where the crew from The Reminder were already set up with the treasure chest full of pirate booty. Even the publisher put on a kerchief, and thanked everyone for coming before the movie started.

We didn't stay through the credits (even though I'd heard there was an Easter egg) because, well, nature was calling, and it was getting late. Did I mention that it's a long movie? It's looooong. But worth seeing if you enjoyed the first two. Just don't get a large drink. ;)

I had a blast at the Strolling of the Heifers parade in Brattleboro, Vermont this morning! There were a ton of people there, and more cow-themed stuff than you can shake a stick at.

It's been ages since I've been to a parade. That was fun!
