I'm home from Sirius Rising festival, and really, really tired. It's a good thing that Dave drove the whole way, because I kept nodding off. Up late last night, up early this morning. Plus, you know, festivaling for the past eight days. ;)

I had a really nice time, and the pictures are uploading now (all 140-something of them), but I will need a good night's sleep before I can be coherent.

I am hopelessly (and irretrievably) behind, so if something really cool or important happened while I was gone, let me know!

I missed you all!

It's weird being back at work. Everybody asks how my vacation was, and there's only so much I can tell them! *g* So I say "Nice," and talk about the weather, and the wedding, and not much else. The muggles just wouldn't understand. They're so very mundane around here.

I sent a text message to Vinnie saying I missed them and didn't want to be at work. (I sent my very first text message last week, to Jim. I knew I could with my phone, and I figured it out all by myself! Unfortunately, he had changed his phone number when he got his iPhone, so he never got it. Typical.)

I'm listening to Fritz's "Starwood" song. If you want a little taste of what we go there for, give it a listen. Fritz was the one who gave Kabluna Hour its name. He even mentions Babylon and its torches. Ah, memories. :)

Here's one thing I miss: random groups of people going by camp, drumming and singing:

travelling party

You just never know what you'll see there! :)

Sirius Rising is only two weeks away, and I'm feeling overwhelmed by all I have to do before I go. Not so much OMG, I'll never get it all done! but more OMG, I'd better get a move on! Fortunately, I have a three-day weekend between now and then to get a lot of it done. I've purposely not made plans for next weekend to accomplish this. Wish me luck!

I have to do laundry, pack, find everything I need (must remember to print out packing list!), weed out the stuff I don't need but take every year anyway, waterproof my boots, remember to take my camp chair out of the car, coordinate and finalize the menu with my campmates, remember to go to the post office to have my mail held, and a few other assorted tasks.

Whew! It makes me tired just thinking about it. I just have to keep reminding myself that it's all worth it. A whole week to hang out with my tribe in the woods! Mojito night! Pirate night! They're bringing back the Cotillion! Gyros from Phill's Grill! Snuggle dome! Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] chalkhorse's wedding! I've lost count of all the weddings I've attended there. Six? Seven? Something like that. (BTW Peg, who's doing the ceremony?)

This afternoon is the Meet & Greet, then I'm off to Lakshmi's for Conjure Cinema. I'm staying overnight and going to mom's tomorrow to pick up my camping gear.

Oh, here's something that those of you who've known me a long time won't believe: Willow's taking Driver's Ed. Eek! Wasn't she just, like, five? She's doing Grease in Randolph this summer. When I was her age, I was in The Pajama Game. :)

Man, you lot are a prolific bunch of posters, but I made it through all of your posts. I will admit to skimming a few of them, but I wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything important and that everyone is OK.

I'm still a long way off from being able to properly write up my experience, but I'll give you a couple of tidbits. First, [livejournal.com profile] ned_gasket is extremely entertaining when he is tipsy. Here is a direct quote: "Starburst, get in the back seat, 'cause this is Lynn's fucking mead." I'm not quite sure what it means, but he sure did like that mead (I think it was elderberry). It was his birthday.

Tigger had a very geeky t-shirt that said "Today I was pompous and my sister was crazy." If you get that, bless you. The really funny part about that one is that Tig's sister was also there.

Another quote, this from Sylvia (evil Rob's non-imaginary wife): "Straight bars smell like beef jerky and desperation." I like that one. Must remember it for future use.

There was an official Guinness World Record set at the festival. More on this later.

Kirsty MacColl music and mojitos go together like peanut butter and chocolate. Mmmmmmmmm.

And now, I am off to bed. My nice, warm, dry, non-inflated bed. Good night, LJ! Oh, how I missed you.
