lizziebelle: (OMG ONOZ)

When I got to work this morning (after driving through slushy snow), my boss was warning people not to go into the building because she smelled gas. So I got out my camera and started taking pictures of the pretty snow.

Then she told everybody to move their cars to the parking lot next door, in case the fire trucks had to come. I took a right instead and went to Starbucks, because I had a gift card. When I got back, the guy from the gas company was here saying it was carbon monoxide from the heater on the dock, but it was safe to go in.

A few minutes later, everybody came bursting from the back with their coats, saying they smelled smoke and GET OUT NOW so I grabbed my coat and purse, and got the heck outta Dodge. I moved my car (again) and took more pictures.

Fire truck! )

It was kind of cool to be able to get up close to the fire engine.

We eventually got the all-clear, and were able to come back inside. There's no heat on the newer side of the building (my office is on the old side), and there's still a smell back there, but they tell us we're safe, and the fire trucks are gone. The heating guy is here now working on that.

Oh, and the snow is very pretty.

I don't think anybody's going to complain about being bored for quite a while. *g*

How's this for cool: they're going to be filming a movie here today! Our editor, Mike, got a call from someone who was looking for a newsroom in which to film, and he came first thing this morning to take a look. Since they're desperate (having had at least two other locations fall through), they took it because they only have their actor for three days. Oh, and the actor is Corbin Bernsen! Yeah, the dude from L.A. Law! I'll try to get pictures!
